Pig Pickin' Dinner Night at Club Duck Key - 2013

The Nevilles and the Bobacks with their committee of talented volunteers hosted a wonderful evening in the Florida Keys at the place-o-fun, Club Duck Key. Entertained by our beloved Big Country, Brian Neville from the mainland, we all enjoyed dancing in our cowboy and cowgirl apparel. Brian has a great voice and we wish we could see more of him and his lovely family. Thank you Brian!

A whole pig slow roasted in Club Duck Key's grill house was the focus of the menu. Sides of potato salad and scalloped potatoes, courtesy of Leah was sooo good. Fran and Steve's coleslaw was also good. Jean and Dave made the moist corn bread and rolls. Merlynn's asparagus dish was very, very good. And the Pig Picking isn't complete without the Neville's baked bean recipe. Anna's snack on each group's table had a nice crunch and the Club's decorations were the skillful hands of Becky. The fun posters and signs were made by our in-house artist, Steve.

Lois brought Roy Rogers and a few lucky people got their picture taken next to our favorite cowboy. Marcel and Betsy had great western style (they jumped out on the dance floor when Brian sang "their" song"). We even had our own Black Bart, aka Eddie. Actually there were many fantastic boots and shirts and skirts. Everyone looked great with embroidered western shirts with pearl buttons. It is unusual to see cowboy and cowgirl outfits in the Florida Keys - we usually dress in flip flops and sing Jimmy Buffet songs.

A fun horse race with our president crossing the finish line first. She was escorted into the winners circle and a tropical leis was placed around her horse and her neck - beautiful Lois! Our horse race caller was hilarious, Leah, as she called the racing action.

The Club was pleased to entertain many out of town folks - family and friends of the members...and everyone had big smiles. Thanks for a great evening.
